Sophie’s expertise lies in marketing, IT and project management, honed during nine years working as a process improvement manager / IT project manager at DERA, QinetiQ, and Accenture. During this period she was a civil servant while at DERA, which was then privatized as QinetiQ and then outsourced to Accenture. Throughout, she was responsible for all the sales, marketing and bidding processes and systems, including the installation of a major (1000+ user) Siebel sales and marketing software system. Sophie was also QinetiQ’s internet editor for a couple of years.
Having graduated in electrical & electronic engineering from the University of Bath, Sophie was an electrical engineer with consultant engineers Ove Arup & Partners for five years. She then made the first of two significant career changes, becoming a marketing and market research consultant, first with public transport consultants Transmark in 1991, then with the Dutch engineering consultants DHV. Her second significant career change was leaving Accenture to create yours2share in 2006.
Passionate about sharing, Sophie founded yours2share to enable people to find like-minded partners with whom they can create private syndicates to share just about any valuable asset, from property, boats and cars to dogs, horses to handbags. As a result of running yours2share, Sophie has built up extensive first-hand knowledge of online marketing, social networking and social media.
As well as building the yours2share website herself, using off-the-shelf classified software, she is also expert in the use of WordPress, which she uses for her yours2share blog and this website. She has a good understanding of a wide range of website types such as e-commerce, forum, directory, portal and community. Sophie helps people to understand exactly what they need from a website and prefers to use open source software as the base for any website if this is possible.
Sophie runs the successful Norwich group of WiRE (Women in Rural Enterprise) networks which is popular with local businesswomen. Together with Cassie Tillet of Working Order, she is also setting up the first Norfolk Jelly.
