Before building a website or doing any online marketing, it is vital for an organisation to understand its products, its customers, its market, and its competitors and what will work for the business. There are pros and cons for every kind of website and online marketing action.
For some businesses, on-line marketing is a priority; for others, a simple website and monthly email newsletter is sufficient. The first step is to spend a couple of hours face-to-face with the client, understanding the issues, brainstorming the opportunities and establishing the best way forward. Prior to this, Sophie usually spends an hour doing some basic preparation. As a result of the first meeting, the client decides to go one of the four possible ways:
- Do nothing, this isn’t the best way forward!
- The client will do the work themself and doesn’t require any further help from Sophie
- The client will do the work themself with some training by Sophie
- The client asks Sophie to do the work for them
In the latter two cases, Sophie will then put together a short proposal.
